What does it mean to be listed as “novel food”?
For a product to be authorized as a novel food, it has to go through a rigorous safety assessment. This means that the data on the compositional, nutritional, toxicological and allergenic properties of the novel food as well as information on respective production processes, and the proposed uses and use levels have to be collected and submitted for evaluation. In addition, analysis or any tests should be performed in a competent facility that can certify the data.
All of these steps and documentation are required to ensure that the product is safe to use and it’s quality for every single batch will be guaranteed.

RECEPA CBD oils can be distinguished by a stabile formula containing 200 cannabis terpenes and polyphenols. Let’s look deeper into these molecules.
Terpenes are aromatic molecules found in plants, fruits, herbs, including cannabis. They determine the smell of your favorite products – manufacturers put isolated terpenes to create scents and flavors of everyday products such as perfumes, body products or some foods. The reason why plants produce terpenes in the first place is to attract pollinators and repel predators like insects, animals. They are also responsible for plants protection by helping the plant to recover after damage, strengthening the immunity.
Terpenes can affect the body depending on the concentration of the terpene and the way a person uses it. It is believed that terpenes work synergistically with cannabinoids to deliver the “Entourage Effect”. This phenomenon means that multiple compounds such as CBD and terpenes work together to enhance or alter the effect of CBD in the body. In other words, a combination of CBD with terpenes works better than any individual compound alone.
Early research in vitro and in vivo on animals suggest that cannabis terpenes might serve some beneficial functions in humans, including pain relief, anti-inflammatory properties, boosting the immune system, antioxidant properties and many others.
Polyphenols are another class of bioactive compounds naturally present in Cannabis sativa L. Polyphenols found in cannabis include flavonoids, phenol amides, and lignanamides, all of which have a wide range of biological properties. Polyphenols serve as a defense mechanism for plants, especially through their activity as antioxidants. These antioxidant effects of polyphenols can also be translated to those who consume them, i.e., you! In addition, flavonoids possess anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antibacterial properties that may improve cardiovascular activity.

What is a carrier oil?
A carrier or base oil plant-based oil that’s used to carry CBD oil. Carrier oils improve CBD bioavailability. As CBD is a fat-soluble molecule, it is best absorbed when dissolved in oil rather than water. Besides, it’s easier to dosage CBD drops dissolved in the carrier oil rather than consuming CBD in its pure crystal form.
Our pharmacists, through their observations and research, discovered that organic sesame oil is the best carrier for CBD, terpenes and polyphenols. Moreover, the sesame seed oil is valued for its medicinal properties.
Sesame oil contains phenolic lignans which are credited for being powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants prevent the formation of harmful free radicals and interfere with oxidative processes. When the body is exposed to high levels of free radicals, the cells are subjected to oxidative damage, resulting in degenerative processes that can lead to many chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes. Sesame oil also has a high concentration of vitamin E, another powerful antioxidant.
Sesame seed oil is also rich in unsaturated fatty acids, especially essential fatty acids which we must get through diet. Unsaturated fats are known to be beneficial to heart health – they reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Studies on animals revealed that phenolic lignans mentioned above have the potent ability to improve hypertension, hence eliminating one of the factors for cardiovascular disease.
We use organic sesame seed oil meaning that no genetic modification, artificial fertilizers, pesticides, are used to grow sesame plants and the final product has no artificial colors and preservatives added during processing. Simply pure, free from any toxic materials sesame oil.
